About The Cherokee Building

THE BUILDING

Knox Heritage lists the Cherokee Building as being constructed in 1895. For the last century the building had a variety of uses and in 1910 it was home to the Knoxville Business College and School of Shorthand. The Cherokee has also housed a small grocery store, book store, florist and the upper floors were once used as apartments. Its last renovation was for the Knoxville World’s Fair as a temporary residence for visitors.

Current plans are to return the picturesque building to its former splendor with a comprehensive renovation of the interior and exterior. Ground floor commercial use is available as are ten one bedroom/one bathroom residences on the upper two floors and at the garden level.
